Re: [weihsien_camp] ... a new "story"

what a wonderful document of your father’s life, Leopold.

I enjoyed reading it - have fine memories of your parents in camp and our parents kept in touch for many years, when back in Belgium and the Netherlands.

This whole story was printed in a Tientsin newspaper- how very special!

Greetings from a Block 22 neighbour.
Anne de Jongh

[weihsien_camp] weihsien_camp website renovation ...

Thank you, Leopold, so much for all your hard work.

The Weihsien website has been such a source of joy and comfort to me as I have no memory of those days, I went in in 1943 as an 8-month old.

We always feel grateful that we, as a family, were able to stay together. There was, of course, always the threat of deporting the men to that terrible camp in Manchuria.

Reading of the Chefoo school: I see what a strong faith and feeling of mission those teachers had. I realise too the reasons they kept those of us of other religions “out of bounds”.

There were so many inspirational people within those Camp walls; my sister feels that Father De Jaegher is one of its unsung heros.

Thank you again for doing all you do for the site and over such a long period. I am trying to remember when you first created it. Was it in 2002?

This weekend, we in Canada celebrate our country and feel very blest to live where we do.

Blessings to all,
Christine Talbot Sancton

I hope that the heat wave is not as severe as predicted for Europe.
