Happy New Year to all!

I’m keeping well, living on my own (my wife passed away in August 2025), still driving and I will be 93 on April Fool’s Day.
I had my first glider lesson last year for my birthday celebration, and welcomed two more great-grandchildren to add to the five I already had.

Keep well, and keep in touch!
Best wishes to you all,
Brian

It was very striking with the 2025 VJ celebrations how much emphasis there was on children who were interned during the war.
I responded to adverts put in all the main newspapers by the British Legion charity asking for anyone who remembered VJ Day to contact them.
I was interviewed on our main TV news channels as part of the official VJ Day commemorations.

Best Wishes for 2026 to all who are still alive, and fond memories of those who are not.

Subject: PEONY PAINTING

Good morning,
Leopold: what a beautiful painting by Eric Liddell and his brother, Robert. I was unaware that Eric was also an artist.
I think your idea of collecting memories of the 80th anniversary of our liberation from Weihsien is wonderful. I look forward to reading the messages.
I hope that Darlene Doiron, an international advisor in Peace cities, who was asked by the Weihsien committee to be there for the event will contribute her thoughts too.
I look forward to reading others' stories.

Thank you again for this great idea.
We are so lucky to have this site which seems to be reaching an ever widening circle of interested people.

Blessings,
Christine Talbot Sancton

———————————————————————————

Dear Carinne,
Many thanks for your warm wishes that we reiterate to you and your family. We all hope to live in peace in 2026 and all the years to come. Yes (sigh)! We are living very uncertain times actually (…) Great debate !

As for the website (…) it is always and still my pleasure. I keep on learning and often ask help from the younger generation. We, older folks, are not very computer-wise. As long as I can, I will.

Good question 😊 → who is still alive?
Let us suggest they send a short message to us (click here) ― just to let us know.

As I wrote in the past, my mother ― when she was alive, often mentioned Jacqueline de Saint-Hubert and that (...) what a wonderful person she was.

All the best, and bien amicalement,
Leopold
… and Janette.

We are indebted for your skillful and passionate work on the website. Do you know if there is a list of internees that are still alive?
